Barrina Grow Lights
Barrina grow lights offer a range of options for indoor plant enthusiasts, catering to various plant sizes and lighting needs. They provide full-spectrum light or purple light to support healthy growth and are particularly suitable for small to medium-sized tropical plants, succulents, and cacti. While they may not be the most cost-effective choice compared to some alternatives, Barrina grow lights are of good quality, bright, easy to install, and are a convenient solution for indoor gardening.
Barrina T5 LED Grow Light Strip 20W (Best For Shelves)
The Barrina 20W T5 LED Grow Light Strip is a great option for small-sized (up to 1 foot tall) tropical indoor plants, succulents and cacti. The light is full-spectrum (not purple). It will provide good growth for your indoor plants and you won’t make a mistake if you decide to buy it. However, Dommia shelf light is a better choice – it provides the same benefits, covers a slightly larger area and is more affordable.

How To Install
There are 3 ways to install the Barrina T5 LED grow light strips. You can use metal screw-in connectors, zip ties, or double-sided tape to mount the 4 strips to the shelf. The double-sided tape is the easiest and most elegant way to install this plant grow light.
How To Use
To use Barrina T5 LED grow light strips on tropical plants, place them 6 to 8 inches from the plants, and keep them on between 8 and 12 hours per day. For succulents and cacti, keep them 3 to 5 inches from your plants, for 12 to 16 hours per day. Use 2 light strips for each plant or set of plants, to get a sufficient amount of light.
Since the light doesn’t come with a built-in timer, you can purchase a separate timer, to set the light to automatically go on and off at certain intervals.
Which Plants Can You Grow With This Light
With Barrina T5 LED grow light strips you can grow small (less than 1 foot tall) tropical plants, succulents and cacti. You can also grow medium-sized (between 1 and 3 feet tall) and large (over 3 feet tall) tropical plants that require low or medium light.
This light is not strong enough to grow large bright-light tropical plants nor large succulents and cacti. To grow large bright-light tropical plants and large succulents and cacti a better option is Sansi 36W grow light or Rousseau pendant grow light.
If you are not sure which plants are bright-light plants, take a look at my table of direct and indirect light requirements by plant. You will see which plants are low light tolerant, which have medium light requirements and which have bright light requirements.

If your indoor plant is getting some natural light, you can reduce the length of exposure to the grow light, or you can increase the distance between the grow light and the plant.
Coverage Area And Light Output
Barrina 25W grow light covers a relatively small surface area of 1 by 1 feet. Grow lights like this one put out light from a small, narrow area. Light intensity drops exponentially with distance, so the light that reaches the edge of the coverage area loses a lot of its intensity. This means not a lot of light reaches the plants at the edge of the coverage area, as you can see in the images below.
Which Plants Can You Grow With This Light
With Barrina 25W LED grow light you can grow small (under 1 foot tall) to medium-sized (between 1 and 3 feet tall) tropical plants as well as small to medium-sized succulents and cacti.

Barrina Height Adjustable Lamp
The Barrina Height Adjustable Lamp is a great grow light for small (less than 1 foot tall) to medium-sized (1 to 3 feet tall) tropical plants and succulents. It is easy to set up and comes with an extendable rod that allows you to adjust the height of the grow light. However, it is not suitable for large tropical plants or large succulents and cacti, except for large low light tolerant tropical plants.
If you are unsure which plants are low light-tolerant, take a look at my table of direct and indirect light requirements by plant.

Research
Why you should trust Mr. Houseplant?
I have been growing house plants (both tropical plants and succulents) under grow lights for over 10 years. I also had a carnivorous plant business where I grew hundreds of plants under grow lights for several years. All of this helped me learn about different types of grow lights (LED grow lights, fluorescent lights, fluorescent bulbs, full-spectrum lighting…), how to measure their brightness, how to determine the proper distance between the light and the plant, and other intricacies of growing indoor plants under grow lights.
How Mr. Houseplant Selected And Tested Products
I identified the key decision-making factors for grow lights and I tested and conducted measurement of all Barrina grow lights in great detail, by using a PAR meter, to determine how they measure in each of the factors, and which plants they are best for, and what are the best alternatives to Barrina grow lights. I measured the light output of each grow light. The key decision-making factors were: 1) brightness 2) design 3) price 4) glare 5) unique features that set it apart from the competition 6) warranty 7) ease of setup
Conclusion
Barrina grow lights provide a variety of choices to meet the needs of indoor plant enthusiasts, accommodating different plant sizes and lighting requirements. The light output is good. These lights emit full-spectrum illumination, promoting the well-being of small to medium-sized tropical plants, succulents, and cacti. Although they may not be the cheapest option in comparison to certain alternatives, Barrina grow lights offer dependable and user-friendly solutions for indoor gardening.
