Haus Bright is a smart full-spectrum grow light that you can control from your phone. It’s easy to setup and is excellent for growing small tropical and succulent indoor plants, as well as large low and medium light plants. It’s also an excellent choice for people who want to use one grow light bulb for plants in different stages of growth (vegetative vs. flowering), as you can change the wavelength. However, due to its low brightness, if you’re looking to grow full sun plants or large bright light plants, a Sansi 36W or a GE 32W would be a much better option.

The Haus Bright setup is straightforward and easy. The light comes with an app and it can be controlled and adjusted remotely via the app. The app interface is user-friendly and setting all parameters takes just a couple of minutes. You can use the app to turn the light on or off, adjust brightness, color, dim the light, or use a timer function to schedule on which days and how long the light should be on!

This light is a good choice for plant parents who want to pay for the convenience of controlling and scheduling through the phone. However, as the light intensity isn’t very high, if you’re looking to grow full sun plants, or large bright light plants, my extensive testing with a PAR meter shows that a Sansi 36W or a GE 32W would be a much better option. Even a Sansi 15W provides more light with such a low power consumption and it is much more affordable.

PROS

CONS

  • Excellent for smaller-sized tropicals and succulents and for large low and medium-light plants
  • Easy setup
  • Controllable through phone
  • Built-in scheduler/timer
  • Adjustable wavelength (for vegetative or flowering stages of plant growth)
  • Dimmable
  • Not the best option for large plants that require full sun or bright indirect light, as the brightness is relatively low. For plants that require a lot of light, based on my testing, these will be better options: Sansi 36W and GE 32W. Even Sansi 15W is brighter, at a lower cost.
  • Only works on 2.4GHz wifi networks. If you have a 5GHz wifi, you can purchase a dual-band wifi extender to create a 2.4GHz network.

How do I Install Haus Bright Grow Light In My Home/Office?

Installing Haus Bright Grow Light bulb is super easy, you should just follow these steps:

  1. Screw in the light bulb
  2. Download the Tuya app from the App Store (‎Tuya Smart) or Google Play (Tuya Smart – Apps on Google Play)
  3. Set the grow light to Discovery mode (to turn on the discovery mode you need to turn the light on and off 3 times, with 1 second pause in between. Do not rush this part, otherwise the grow light will not go into Discovery mode. Once you turn the light on for the 4th time, it will blink and the light will start flashing, like in the image below. The flashing is a sign that the light is now in Discovery mode)
  4. Start the Tuya app, click on “Try Now”/Add Device (The app will ask you to turn on Wifi and Bluetooth, and turn on Location permissions for the app)
  5. Click “Add device” (if the grow light stops flashing, you will need to reactivate the Discovery mode)
  6. And you’re done :)

Note that the app works only with 2.4GHz frequency Wifi networks. If you have a 5GHz wifi, as a solution, you can purchase a dual-band wifi extender to create a 2.4GHz network.

Which Plants Is This Light Best For?

You can use the Haus Bright Grow Light to grow small to medium sized tropical plants and succulents and cacti and large low light and medium light plants. It is customizable, and you can adjust the wavelength and light distribution to mimic the natural light and accommodate different growing stages of your houseplants.

For succulents, cacti, and tropical plants that require a lot of light, keep it on for 12 to 16 hours at a distance of 0.5 to 1 foot. For other tropical plants, keep it on for 12 to 16 hours at a distance no bigger than 1 foot.

Haus Bright Grow Light FAQ

What Is The Lifespan Of A Haus Bright Grow Light Bulb?

The lifespan of a Haus Bright Grow Light Bulb is quite long, and these LED grow light bulbs can last for more than 5 years.

Can Haus Bright Grow Light Damage My Plants?

No, Haus Bright Grow Light will not damage your plants, unless the grow light bulbs are placed less than 3” from the house plants. A good rule of thumb is to place your hand on top of the plant, if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for the plant and you should move it further away.

What Is The Difference Between Haus Bright Grow Light And Other Grow Lights?

It’s a big grow light bulb which might make you think that it’s incredibly strong. However, a small Sansi 15W grow bulb provides higher brightness than Haus Bright. On the plus side, Haus Bright has options that Sansi doesn’t – it’s a smart light bulb, you can control it through your phone, you can change the wavelength to suit the vegetative or flowering stages of your plants.

Haus Bright Grow Light is user-friendly and has an in-built scheduler for user convenience

Haus Bright Grow Light is also convenient and user-friendly, with an easy 3-minute setup. You can also control and adjust the light via an in-built scheduler and timer in the app, which means that you won’t have to deal with bulky timers in every power socket.

Is Haus Bright Smart Light?

Yes, once you connect the Grow Light to the application you can use the app to:

  • turn the light on and off
  • change the light color from white (with more blue light) to yellow (with more red light)
  • dim the light
  • create a schedule for the light when you want your light to turn on and off automatically

Does Haus Bright Grow Light Have A Dimmable Bulb?

Yes, Haus Bright Grow Light is a dimmable light bulb. You can adjust the brightness via the app, which I don’t recommend that you do. The problem with most grow lights is they are very weak. If you dim a grow light, it will not provide sufficient light for your plants. But dimming for a very limited time period can be useful, (i.w. in the evening, if you’re looking to relax in lower light).

Why You Should Trust Mr. Houseplant

I have been growing house plants for over 10 years. I have been growing house plants under grow lights for over 6 years. I owned a venus flytrap production business for several years. During that time, I grew venus flytraps under grow lights. This allowed me to learn about different types of grow lights, how to measure their intensity, how to determine the proper distance between the light and the plant, and other intricacies of growing indoor plants under grow lights.

During my houseplant career, I had the opportunity to use and test many different brands of grow lights – Rousseau, Sansi, GE, Soltech Solutions, Haus Bright, Spider Farmer, and many other well-known and less-known grow lights.

How Mr. Houseplant Selected and Tested Products

Haus Bright is the only smart grow light that I’ve seen so far, which was the main reason I decided to test it.

I identified the key decision making factors for grow lights and tested how the grow light bulb measures in each of them: 1) brightness 2) design 3) price 4) coverage area 5) glare 6) features that set it apart from the competition 7) warranty

After putting it to the test with a PAR meter (a grow light meter) at different distances I determined the brightness and the coverage area, and how well the light keeps its brightness at different distances. I also looked at features that set the product apart from its competition, such as scheduling and adjusting the wavelength.

Please note that using a PAR meter (a grow light meter) is the only reliable way to test grow lights.

Conclusion

If you want a smart grow light that you can control from your phone, that eliminates the need for a timer, and that is good for small tropical and succulent indoor plants, this grow light bulb is an excellent choice. If you are looking to grow large plants that require a lot of light, go for a stronger light.
