Dyna Gro Foliage Pro is a complete liquid plant nutrient for indoor plants, vegetables and herbs. It contains all 6 macronutrients and all 10 micronutrients (not just NPK) that plants need. And it has an excellent N-P-K ratio for foliage plants, 9:3:6 (which is the same as 3:1:2) recommended by the University of Florida.

The N-P-K ratio represents the percent of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K) in the fertilizer. A 9-3-6 fertilizer has 9% N, 3% P, and 6% K.

All plants need nitrogen but especially plants with lots of leaves and plants with large leaves. A high nitrogen amount in Dyna Gro is excellent for foliage production and stem and leaf growth. It will help you maintain healthy plants and help resist environmental stresses.

Take a look at a Dyna Gro Foliage Pro fertilizer review in the video below:

How To Use

To use Dyna Gro Foliage Pro fertilizer, mix ½ tsp (2.5 ml) in a gallon of water (3.78 liters) and use it to water your plants. Use the fertilizer at every watering. At lower concentrations, Foliage Pro can also be used as a foliar spray. Mix ¼ tsp (1.25 ml) per gallon (3.78 liters) of water for foliar application and spray foliage.

For hydroponic plant growers, Foliage Pro is an excellent solution because there is no need to measure or mix different nutrients together. This is the only fertilizer you will need to use from the seedling stage until the harvest if you’re growing leafy greens hydroponically. If you’re growing flowering plants, you should eventually switch to Dyna Gro Bloom or Dyna Gro Grow. These fertilizers have a higher ratio of phosphorus which is important for plant flowering.

Which Plants To Use It On

Foliage Pro is excellent for most plants in their vegetative state, including, but not limited to common interior scape plants, house plants, vegetables, herbs and cannabis. It works very well for plants grown hydroponically, as it is an all-in-one solution. No need to mix it with other fertilizers.

I have been fertilizing many different species with Foliage Pro for the last several years – peace lilies, monsteras, fiddle leaf figs, alocasias, philodendrons, and many other plants, with excellent results!

Cost

Dyna Gro is an affordable houseplant fertilizer. It comes in packages of 8oz, 32oz, 1 gallon, 15 gallon and 55 gallon. For home usage, I recommend the 32oz. It’s big enough to keep around 50 plants fertilized for more than a year.

It is also affordable for hydroponic plant growth because it’s an all-in-one solution, so you don’t need to mix it with other nutrients.

Safety For Humans

Avoid getting Foliage Pro on your skin and eyes as it can cause skin and eye irritation. It may also cause respiratory irritation.

If you get fertilizer on your skin, wash with plenty of water. If you get it in your eyes, rinse eyes with water for several minutes.

Safety For Plants

Applying a high concentration of Foliage Pro can damage or kill your plants. The same is true for most fertilizers. High concentration of a fertilizer will burn the roots, which will manifest as leaf damage. And if the fertilization is very high, it will kill your plant.

Is the product Dyna Gro Liquid Plant Fertilizer the same product named SuperThrive Foliage Pro ? I’m wondering if the name has changed but actually the same product ?

    • MrHouseplant July 16, 2023 at 11:15 pm - Reply

Hi Patty, at the time you asked me this, they seemed to still be different products. At least a lot of websites selling them haven’t been updated, so they were still being sold as different products. Super Thrive and Dyna Gro have a new owner that, it seems, decided to consolidate, so now Dyna Gro is Super Thrive.

Both products were 9:3:6 fertilizers, so when it comes to N-P-K content, they were the same.

Hi- the pic above says 1 tsp per gallon but your text says 1/2 tsp per gallon. Can you clarify what is correct? Thx

Hi Susan, thank you for noticing. The image should say 1/2 tsp per galloon, I will correct the image 🙂

Hi..I’m confused..I ordered the Dyno-Gro Foliage Pro on Amazon and received SUPERthrive Foliage-Pro…the label even indicates Dyno-Gro Foliage-Pro is now SUPERthrive Foliage-Pro. In your reply to Patty you indicate they are different…..I ordered from the link you provided. Thanks, Jeneen

    • MrHouseplant August 15, 2023 at 4:18 am - Reply

Hi Jeneen, yes, Dyna-Gro is now SuperThrive. At the time Patty asked me this, it looked like they were still different brands (as they have been for years). But that has changed.

I did some research, even though both Dyna Gro and Super Thrive were owned by the same company called Green Garden Products, they were separate brands. Green Garden was bought by Central Garden and Pet in 2021 and it seems they decided to consolidate, so now Dyna Gro is sold under the name of Super Thrive. So what you received is the Dyna Gro product you wanted, only with a new sticker 😊

Is this fertilizer good to use for Venus fly traps as well?

    • MrHouseplant October 22, 2023 at 10:04 pm - Reply

Hi Amanda, you shouldn’t be using fertilizer on Venus Flytraps at all, unless you are a very experienced flytrap grower. In that case, slight controlled fertilizing can be ok. Flytraps live in soil that is nutrient poor and over fertilizing can kill them. I wrote a detailed article on venus flytrap care: https://www.mrhouseplant.com/blog/venus-flytrap-care/ 🙂
